The pre-surgery visit
The pre-surgery visit is a key moment to evaluate the functional and appearance problems to be addressed

We have to strongly emphasize that rhinoplasty is a type of cosmetic functional surgery, and that none of the two characteristics should jeopardize the other.

When visiting the patient, Prof. Mattioli, will explain the functional and aesthetic characteristics he aims to warranty and safeguard, followed by explanations of the most various cases and heir relevant resolutions, so that the patient may have a general idea of what can be done. To be able to show the patient the best results that can be achieved, Prof. Mattioli will take pictures of the face, and elaborate them on the computer to create various simulations.

This is a very important phase inasmuch as Prof. Mattioli will make a study of the patient’s face in order to suggest the best solutions. The study of the image uses the classic standards of objective beauty and the type of prospective corrections will be discussed and agreed on with the patient, who will also express his/her demands and preferences (subjective beauty).

Complete cooperation and agreement between doctor and patient is vital, in view of obtaining the best results under all aspects: functional, aesthetic, and personal. There will be no unusual solutions proposed. The rhinoplasty will have to target the recovery of harmony and normality of the nose and face, respecting as much as possible, the characteristics of the personality and physiognomy in general.

The visit will conclude with the selection of one of the digital simulations proposed and the patient will be given a leaflet containing further information relevant to the rhinoplasty treatment, including blood exams to be done and the procedures to follow before the operation.
